Stones Crye R.I.P
posted by Scott Hampton on 04-21-2011
For too many reasons to relate, as of March 10, 2011 Stones Crye has permanently passed into the ages. Sadly there will never be a long dreamed of CD. It was a worthy attempt, with the most recent version of the band being the most solid, but it was not meant to be.

R.I.P.

Down Time

SC is taking a few months off to allow bass master Aaron time to recover from back surgery, and then to enjoy the holidays with family and friends. Watch for us in 2011.

Not everyone gets to you know. Well, in this case everyone can! It's the Stones Crye online back stage. There you'll find links to audio and video. We have just added a photo gallery with all sorts of shots through the years. More are being added all the time.

How do you get there? Sign up for our mail list (and no we won't spam you or share your info with anyone else!), be sure to enter a user name and password and that's it, you can get it. Tell us what you think.

Stones Crye Officially Reappears
posted by Scott Hampton on 09-28-2009
Saturday Sept. 26, 2009; exactly 11 years and 2 weeks since our last performance on Saturday Sept. 12, 1998 (4032 days/574 weeks for those interested in that sort of thing); saw the re-emergence of Stones Crye at the North Liberty Christian Church festival. We played a 30 minute set consisting of 5 songs that some say sounded just like they did in 1998. It also marked the debut of Aaron Olvey as not only the perfect fit for bassist in this band, but adds back a 4th voice in our vocals. It feels good to be back. Thanks be to GOD!

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
posted by Eric Phillippe on 08-02-2009
Greetings friends, family and acquaintances of Stones Crye!!

There is a popular saying that goes “Good things come to those who wait.” Well, Stones Crye has been waiting and yes, something good has arrived! 9 months after the start of our search for a bassist, we are excited to announce the newest addition to the Stones Crye roster, Aaron Olvey! Aaron has been playing bass for over 20 years and has played in several local bands. He and his wife, Denise, live with their two sons along with a menagerie of animals. We all can personally attest to the fact that Denise is a FANTASTIC cook and a gracious host! Aaron is the perfect fit for our group and Al, Scott and Eric are ecstatic to hear the older songs have new life breathed into them!

We are hard at work relearning the old material and writing new material. Look for Stones Crye at a venue near you in the next couple of months or so. If you are interested in staying up-to-date with the latest goings on in Stones Crye, go to our website, www.stonescrye.com . There you can sign up for our email list, contact us about playing at your event or venue, and participate in lively discussions on our forum.. Scott has been hard at work creating a one of a kind site and he has done a great job. In the next few weeks, more material will be added so check back often!

Finally, we would like to thank the “fifth member” of the band, Doug Webster, for graciously filling in on bass at rehearsals. Doug, you’ve been an important part of Stones Crye since its beginning and we look forward to forward to working with you in the future. It is absolutely true that when you let God dictate the timing of things, good stuff happens. We are eager to see how God will be using Stones Crye to impact lives for the kingdom. Keep us in your prayers and come see us soon!

Yours,

Eric, Scott, Alan and Aaron

Things are happening

It's too soon to go into details but things are happening that could very well bring SC to a venue near you before the end of the year. Watch for a whole new web site design soon!

Better progress
posted by Scott Hampton on 06-01-2009
Rehearsals have us ready to play at least a 30 min set now and we're not far from having an hour's worth ready. Continuing bassist interviews have us very hopeful at the moment. More to come...

Progress

Rehearsals have been going very well over the past few months. The backlist is starting to gel and we've been writing new material as well that we're very excited about.

We've interviewed a number of bassists and had met someone we were interested in but unfortunately fell through. So the search continues...

The search is on
posted by Scott Hampton on 10-01-2008
A couple of months of prayer and discussion have led the 3 remaining members to realize that in spite of how daunting it may seem to our finite way of thinking, we're led to reforming this band. And so the search for a bassist has commenced. We've answered some ads and placed some ads. Eric has done some phone interviews and we're meeting in person with anyone who gets past Eric.

Rehearsals have officially begun. Sort of. We realized that to break in a new bassist we'd better be able to play our own songs first, so we've gathered the gear and have started getting reacquainted with them. So far it's coming together faster than expected and in fact is already sounding like Stones Crye albeit with a considerable amount of rust.

Lastly, we're updating our logo, and designing a new brand and web site we'll be releasing soon.

A few years have passed
posted by Scott Hampton on 07-01-2008
A LOT more water has flowed under the bridge of stone. Eric and Scott have stayed in contact and grown closer over this time. The natural extension of this is ongoing discussion about missing the band, the ministry, and the sense that it's never really been finished. They've met with Al and have begun discussing possibilities with Al on drums. Nothing is certain at this point beyond committing to meeting on a weekly basis, getting reacquainted, and having some study time together.

Try this again?

Eric contacts Scott about possibly giving it another shot. After much discussion they agree to do so at a slower, more tempered pace and with a different approach.

Reunited

After a 6 year sabbatical we've reunited to record that long awaited CD. We're in rehearsals at the moment which are going very well. Lord willing we'll be in the studio in spring of 2006.
